If you were fortunate to be at our summer gala concert Forever Flamenco at the Ford at the 1200-seat John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, then you remember the explosive dancer Manuel Gutierrez. His show-stopping passionate dance style was unforgettable. Well, good news. He’s back! Manuel Gutierrez will now be joining the already stellar lineup of Forever Flamenco this Sunday, November 10 at 8pm , at the intimate Fountain Theatre.
The show this Sunday night, led by the artistic direction of percussionist Joey Heredia, was already promising to be exciting and innovative with the inclusion of jazz musicians Pablo Medina (piano) and Oskar Cartaya (bass). Joining them will be dancer Mizuho Sato, guitaristKai Narezo, singerAntonio de Jerez and singer/guitarist Jose Garcia.Tickets are going fast. You don’t want to miss this one!

Forever Flamenco, an L.A. Weekly “Pick of the Week”, continues its long and successful run (9th Smash Year!) at the Fountain Theatre. This sensual art form tells stories of love and loss, happiness and longing, and the intimate 78-seat setting of the Fountain Theatre is the perfect place to see the art of flamenco as it is meant to be experienced. A rotating series of directors and a cast of L.A.’s top flamenco singers, dancers and guitarists combine precise choreography with spontaneous exploration to create an electrifying show that is a completely new experience each performance.

The Fountain Theatre’s acclaimed series presents dancers Fanny Ara, Melissa Cruz and Manuel Gutierrez, with artistic director Antonio Triana and special guestKai Narezo on guitar, percussionist Joey Heredia, and Gypsy cantaor (singer) José Cortes. With only 78 seats in four rows, the Fountain is the perfect place to view flamenco. Each show features a roster of world-class dancers, singers and musicians drawn from the rich pool of flamenco artists in Southern California, with additional guest artists brought from San Francisco, Albuquerque and Spain.
Deborah Lawlor and The Fountain Theatre in association with Beth Nesbitt and Vida Flamenca present Emilio Ochando and company in Forever Flamenco on Sunday, March 18, in the beautiful 300-seat Gallery Theatre at Barnsdall Park in Hollywood.
Emilio Ochando
Emilio Ochando, a phenom from the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza, has performed as a soloist with Ballet Nacional de España and Ballet Nacional de Cuba. His choreographic prowess earned him 2nd prize as emerging choreographer at Alcala de Henares (Madrid). He is currently a soloist in the Montreal production of Don Juan with dancer/choreographers Angel Rojas and Carlos Rodriguez, and returns to Forever Flamenco for an exciting evening of clasico español and flamenco dance along with an electrifying line-up of musicians and dancers, including the US stage debut of cantaor Guillermo Gonzalez direct from Sevilla. Ochando is joined by the relentless passion of dancers Clara Rodriguez and Stephanie Narváez from San Francisco, accompanied by the guitar mastery of Kai Narezo and Gabriel Osuna. Gerardo Morales punctuates the performances on percussion.
